Connectivity Increases, KAI Airport Passengers Reach 598 Thousand in January 2026

PT Railink (KAI Airport) recorded growth in the number of passengers in January 2026 compared to the same period the previous year. Throughout January 2026, total KAI Airport passengers reached 598 thousand people, an increase of 1.87 percent compared to January 2025 which was 587 thousand passengers. This growth reflects the increasing public trust in KAI Airport services as a reliable, timely and integrated mode of transportation with the airport.

Porwanto Handry Nugroho, President Director of PT Railink, said that this achievement was a positive indicator of the consistency in improving the quality of the company’s services. He emphasized that the increase in the number of passengers shows that KAI Airport is increasingly trusted by the public as a transportation solution to the airport that is comfortable, efficient and on time. In the future, KAI Airport will continue to strengthen services through operational improvements, digitalization of services, and intermodal integration to support increasingly high levels of community mobility.

In the Medan area, the Srilelawangsa train service recorded a total of 358 thousand passengers in January 2026, an increase of 0.37 percent compared to January 2025 which reached 357 thousand passengers. This number comes from the Medan-Kualanamu service with 137 thousand passengers and Medan-Binjai with 220 thousand passengers. This achievement shows the stable public need for airport train services as daily transportation and access to Kualanamu International Airport.

Meanwhile, KAI Airport services in Yogyakarta showed more significant growth. Total passengers on YIA Xpress trains and YIA Regular trains in January 2026 reached 239 thousand people, an increase of 4.18 percent compared to January 2025 when there were 229 thousand passengers. This increase was driven by the high mobility of tourists and business trips to Yogyakarta International Airport.
