Behind the splendor of these medical facilities, there is an irony that road safety has been neglected for the last decade. Since it was inaugurated in 2016 until February 2026, this busy area of ​​activity has allegedly still been ‘blind’ to traffic signs.

This condition is increasingly worrying considering that the Gregorian calendar is now approaching the crucial moment of the Eid homecoming flow, Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah.

As the main route connecting between provinces, the absence of traffic signal control devices at this point is no longer just an administrative problem, but a real threat to the millions of lives that will pass through.

Langkat Youth Leader, Muhammad Nuh, questioned the collective commitment of the relevant agencies. 10 years of neglect is considered an unreasonable duration for a basic safety procedure, especially in a hospital area that is supposed to be a calm and safe zone.

“We see that there has not been a single road sign in front of the Putri Bidadari RSU from 2016 to 2026. We are asking for cross-sectoral coordination between the Langkat Transportation Agency, North Sumatra Transportation Agency, Langkat Police Traffic Unit, and the hospital owner,” emphasized Nuh, Thursday (19/2/2026).

Responding to this pressure, Head of Langkat Police Traffic Unit, AKP M Tommy Franata, expressed his support. However, he also gave a signal for the hospital and the Department of Transportation (Dishub) to be more proactive.

“The input is very good. Please help with sounding to the relevant object (RS) and the related agency (Dishub). Later we will also help coordinate,” said AKP Tommy, Saturday (21/2/2026).

The question is, why did this coordination only emerge after there was public pressure and when the Eid homecoming flow was just around the corner?

On the internal management side, the Director of RSU Putri Bidadari, Firmansyah, chose to direct technical explanations to his subordinates.

The Operational Director of RSU Putri Bidadari, Lt. Col. Muhidin, claimed that anticipatory steps were already underway.

“We have followed up, we just need to procure it. Thank you,” said Muhidin briefly, Saturday (21/2/2026).

However, this statement ‘just procurement’ sparked skepticism. Why does the process of procuring signs which are crucial for the safety of patients and national road users take so many years?

The seriousness of the bureaucracy was also tested through the steps of the Langkat Regency Transportation Service. Through letter number 500.970/DISHUB-LKT/2025, the Head of Transportation Department actually invited the leadership of RSU Putri Bidadari in December 2025 to discuss the Traffic Impact Analysis (Andalalin).

The meeting was supposed to be a turning point. However, monitoring in the field shows that the Jalinsum asphalt in front of the hospital still has minimal markings. The density of two-wheeled vehicles and heavy transport milling in and out of hospitals creates deadly ‘blind spots’.
