The Artificial Intelligence Institute for Progress (AIIP) launched the whitepaper “Accelerating AI Adoption in Indonesia” as a strategic document that maps opportunities, challenges and collaborative steps to accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence in Indonesia. This white paper emphasizes that accelerating AI adoption is a national strategic issue that requires cross-sector collaboration to strengthen Indonesia’s competitiveness in the digital era.
Jakarta, January 29 2026 — Today, the Artificial Intelligence Institute for Progress (AIIP) officially launched a whitepaper entitled “Accelerating AI Adoption in Indonesia”, a strategic document that maps opportunities, challenges and collaborative steps to accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in Indonesia.
The launch of this whitepaper provides important momentum amidst increasingly fierce competition for AI development in the Southeast Asia region. Countries such as Singapore and Malaysia have invested heavily in national strategies and AI infrastructure, while Indonesia has major advantages in its large human capital and growing digital adoption rates.
This white paper emphasizes that accelerating AI adoption is not only related to economic growth, but also to national interests, global competitiveness, and Indonesia’s long-term resilience in the digital era.

“The current AI competition is no longer conceptual. This is a real competition that demands ecosystem readiness, cross-sector collaboration, and clear policy direction,” said Nezar Patria, Deputy Minister of Communications and Digital of the Republic of Indonesia, at the launch of the AIIP whitepaper.

As part of its policy contribution, the AIIP whitepaper recommends a number of strategic steps, including developing an integrated national AI adoption framework, strengthening cross-sector collaborative ecosystems, increasing digital talent capacity, and focusing on high-impact AI use cases that can be widely replicated in the public and private sectors.
