AXIALNEWS.id | Hajj funds managed in 2026 will reach IDR 180 trillion, an increase of 83.67 percent from 2018 which was only IDR 98 trillion.
This was revealed by Member of the Executive Board of the Indonesian Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH), Acep Jayaprawira when explaining the development of Hajj funds managed by BPKH at the opening ceremony of the Grand Hajj Manasik 1447 H/2026 M PT Bank Sumut (Perseroda), Thursday (2/4) at the Medan Hajj Dormitory Hall.
“Currently managed Hajj funds reach around IDR 180 trillion, an increase from IDR 98 trillion in 2018. These funds are managed professionally to produce a benefit value of around IDR 12 trillion per year, which is used to subsidize the Hajj costs of regular pilgrims,” he said.
He added, during its eight years of existence, BPKH has consistently obtained an Unqualified Opinion (WTP) from the Financial Audit Agency (BPK), as a guarantee of the security of congregational funds.

Deputy Governor of North Sumatra Surya was present to open the event. This Hajj ritual was attended by 1,661 prospective pilgrims, the aim of which was to finalize their physical and spiritual readiness for the Holy Land.
Surya reminded prospective pilgrims that the Hajj pilgrimage requires excellent physical condition. Therefore, the congregation is advised to start maintaining their diet and rest from an early age.
“Take care of your health and follow the instructions of the officers. Ladies and gentlemen are ambassadors of North Sumatra in the Holy Land. Show politeness, discipline and strengthen togetherness during worship,” he advised.

Meanwhile, the Main Director of Bank Sumut, Heru Mardiansyah, said that the Grand Hajj ritual has become a tradition since 2006. From initially only 12 people participated, now the number of participants has increased significantly.
“This year, participants in the Grand Hajj rituals reached 1,661 pilgrims from a total of 1,887 customers who had paid the Hajj expenses at Bank Sumut. We want to be present not only as a financial institution, but as friends in your spiritual journey, Mr. and Mrs.,” explained Heru.

To accommodate the number of participants, this year’s ritual was divided into two waves. The first wave was attended by 728 pilgrims on March 31, while the second wave will take place from April 5 to 8. Bank Sumut also provides supporting facilities, ranging from transportation from the area of origin to accommodation while in Medan.
Also present were the Head of the Regional Office of the North Sumatra Ministry of Religion, Zulkifli Sitorus, the Head of the Medan Embarkation Hajj Dormitory UPT, Ramlan Sudarto, the ranks of commissioners and directors of the Bank of North Sumatra, religious figures, and the leadership of the Regional Apparatus Organization (OPD) of North Sumatra Province.
