Nataru at Sibolga Harbor Continues Smoothly in the Midst of the Disaster Recovery Period

Sibolga, January 2026 – During the Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 transportation periods (Nataru 2025/2026), PT Pelindo Multi Terminal (SPMT) Sibolga Branch recorded passenger flow services in D-15 to H+15 or the period 10 December 2025 to 9 January 2026 reaching 31,913 passengers.

Pelindo Multi Terminal Sibolga Branch Manager, Muhammad Ikhlas, explained that based on evaluations, the trend of passenger flow at the Sibolga Passenger Terminal during the Christmas period this year was recorded to be lower than the same period last year which reached 35,506 passengers.

“This decrease is considering that Sibolga is still in the recovery period after the natural disaster of landslides and floods that occurred on November 25 2025,” said Muhammad Ikhlas.

However, the flow of vehicles actually experienced a significant increase, reaching 6,511 units or an increase of around 49 percent compared to the previous year which was recorded at 4,374 units in the same period. This condition shows a shift in people’s movement patterns which are dominated by the use of private vehicles.

Muhammad Ikhlas continued that this achievement reflects the high mobility of the community during the year-end holiday period, as well as showing Pelindo Multi Terminal’s readiness to maintain smooth passenger and vehicle services at Sibolga Port. During the service period, the entire passenger embarkation and disembarkation process runs orderly and smoothly, supported by the readiness of terminal facilities, effective passenger flow management, and the presence of service officers on standby.

Apart from the above, terminal operations run in an orderly and safe manner, along with consistent implementation of service standards and cross-agency coordination.

“The smooth flow of passengers and vehicles during the Christmas period is the result of good synergy and collaboration between Pelindo Multi Terminal and all stakeholders. We appreciate the support of KSOP Class IV Sibolga, security forces, local government, ship operators and all stakeholders who work together to maintain security, order and comfort of services at Sibolga Port,” concluded Muhammad Ikhlas.
